KENTUCKY WEST FARM

The farm is approximately 50 acres in size. Its paddocks are surrounded by post-and-rail Kentucky fencing. Because of the farm's unique design, only one large facility is necessary to care for the Thoroughbred horses. The barn will be U-shaped with offices and living quarters in the front. The stalls will run perpendicular on each side of the main structure. The fillies will be on one side and the colts will be on the other, with the mares in the inside stalls. The gently rolling mineral-rich land overlooking Bear Lake provides a perfect natural base on which to raise young Thoroughbreds. Horses feel more secure when they can see and smell water. The rich deposit of limestone particles in the water gives Bear Lake its aquamarine color and also contributes to developing strong bones in horses. Fresh water is available in abundance from natural springs and one of the largest artesian wells in the area. The clean mountain air and elevation of 5,904 ft. helps promote and develop stronger lungs, physical strength, cardiovascular strength and overall stamina. This clearly is an advantage when preparing young Thoroughbreds for training.
